International Policy of Yokohama City

Yokohama actively pursues international collaboration through exchange with various overseas cities, efforts via local international organizations and more.
We also pursue community development efforts aimed at facilitating more comfortable living among and participation in activities by both Japanese people and foreign nationals.

　International Exchange
Exchanges through sports, culture, technology and more with eight sister/friendship cities, seven partner cities and others.

　International Cooperation
International cooperation through projects based on unique approaches, including interurban collaborations, attraction of and support for international organizations,
support for areas affected by large-scale natural disasters, and morewith eight sister/friendship cities, seven partner cities and others.

　Multicultural Society
Operation of 11 International Lounges within Yokohama, support through Japanese language learning programs and other community development efforts that facilitate
more comfortable living among and participation in activities by both Japanese people and foreign nationals

　International Peace
In addition to measures as a Peace Messenger City in pursuit of international peace, which include international exchanges and cooperation, Yokohama undertakes
projects to promote peace in its citizens
